Designer Joanna Gick of J & J Design Group think over-amped themed rooms - think pirate boat race car beds or fairytale motifs - are a thing of the past. Although she likes to include the interests of children in the diets of the room, she tries not to overdo it, because they tend to change frequently. The last thing you want is to spend exhausting hours mural train when your child will pass superhero before the paint dries.

go the distance
interior designer Lieve Saether of Turnstyle said one of the changes she has noticed is that most of its customers are more mature choice for bedrooms of their children. Immature in the sense that the designs are sober or adult, but in terms of endurance and practicality.

make it interactive
If possible, try to include bedroom furniture, bed and accessories that involve children in an activity. Designer LeAnne Bunnell made the chalk-paint-covered chest of drawers as an interactive learning room. It will help the child to their writing, while encouraging independence in dressing. As the child grows, the family can simply repaint the room.

Save space
Moving the chamber office makes sense for small parts, as seen here, as well as siblings of different ages who share a room. In this way, an older child who needs to stay late to finish homework does not interfere with his younger brother.

consider the color
How many times have you seen a shamelessly paint color in the room of a child he made your teeth hurt? The ideal strategy is to let your child choose the color but with security filters. For example, the purple neon could face too with the decoration of the rest of your home.
Saether color approaches the chamber pallets by first asking, children What I try to do with this space and with the rest of the house? ' While children have favorite colors, Saether said they do not yet have the experience to choose something that makes sense or mixtures with other plans.
They should certainly participate in the selection of colors for their rooms, or at least have the perception that they are involved. "Even if a child has a favorite color, you as a parent or designer has the possibility of tempering what makes sense to the general decoration of the house, within the initial desire for a child, they say she.

Choose wisely
parents usually know what colors their children will react, and if a favorite color is blue, for example, then you can provide a narrow set better suited blues from which your children will certainly pick a favorite.
In the room of the boy, Saether greyish blue mixed with an intense yellow that does not depart from or compete with the rest of the customer's home.

Look on the bright side
pinks and blues genre defining classics have happily given way to bright palettes, more universal. Gick says she loves the colors of punch, because the child will be able to grow with the space more easily. Pastels can sometimes seem too childish.

Make it multi-purpose
Bunnell said the furniture with many functions is on trend with its customers and probably here to stay. Multi-purpose furniture is generally and often integrated components such as storage drawers sliding and office space.
Because it focuses on the effectiveness of space, this type of furniture aligns best with contemporary or urban homes that have limited space. The multi-purpose room seen here was built as a headboard, bedside table, lighting, shelves and a bed in the bedroom of a little girl. There is also room for a pull-out mattress below.

What's under the bed?
trundle beds save space and to have a friend spend the night effortlessly. But remember, because trundle beds take all the space under the regular bed, you must ensure that you have plenty of storage elsewhere.

take the floor
wood floors are great in a living room or dining room, but the carpet is the ideal flooring for the room of a young child. It is the most comfortable for small knees, and it is warmer in winter than hardwood.
A dense pile or loop carpet is best for children's rooms, especially for the execution of wheeled toys through. Carpet tiles, like those shown here, are a great alternative to traditional wall-to-wall carpeting. If one or two damaged tiles, swap is a breeze. In addition, they come in a wide range of colors, so you can choose your palette and create patterns that you like. If carpet tiles or wall-to-wall carpet is not a possibility, a large rug will do.

Softens storage with baskets
Saether said baskets are the most useful storage in children's rooms. "The size of a child's toy will change several times as a child gets older, she said. "Baskets and trays provide flexibility and will not break the bank.
Using canvas or solid wicker baskets to store toys is easier on the little fingers as hard and heavy plastic containers. They also add softness to the room and look great. You could even have different colors to mix and match. Why not think color coding to make the extra things easy to find?

Making walls work for you
Many owners and designers take advantage of wall space to back up storage, sometimes eliminating the need for conventional options. And in this way, it may be easier to organize books and toys for your child.
These shelves, Gick said, are actually imagine Ikea display edges. They have a low profile and do not protrude far into the room as a traditional library would do. Cute letters above were made by Gick and covered in the pages of old books.

Consider using wall space for interactive play, too. Here, d esigner Jennifer Gardner designed removable planks Lego baseplate. "The family was interested in the concept of a Lego wall, but wanted to keep the space flexible for the future," she said. Inject fun
Bunnell designed this room for a little boy, infusing a hint of humor campside. I think we stopped expect children to be mini-adults and asking them to subscribe for adult design styles, she said. She loves spaces for children that promote creative, physical and spiritual growth. So do not be afraid to have a little fun. After all, create fun memories is what childhood is all about.
